Attractions and activities

El Calafate is on the southern shore of Lago Argentino, in Argentina’s world-famous Patagonia. Among the attractions are the Glacier National Park at more than 600,000 hectares of majestic glaciers, lakes, mountains, and forests. The most visited glacier is the magnificent Perito Moreno, declared a Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO, and where excursions leave on foot, 4x4, or by boat.

For the adventurous, El Calafate offers the best of the Patagonian landscape and welcomes you to the enormity of the natural world. Guests go in for skiing, kayaking, hiking, climbing, and ice-skating.

As to the food, among the most ordered dishes is Patagonian lamb, but eateries also specialize in smoked trout, seasonal red berries and a good selection of the country’s very famous wine.
